Paramotor Training

What to Expect
My primary focus is on tailoring training to each student's individual learning style, building upon their past experiences. By the end of the training process, students will be equipped to:
- Safely and confidently identify suitable flying sites
- Choose appropriate weather conditions for flying
- Launch, fly, and land unsupervised
# The Training Process
*1. Kiting*
Learn to control the paraglider by flying it from a standing position, similar to flying a kite.
*2. Ground Training*
Cover essential topics, including:
- FAA regulations
- Airspace
- Paramotor maintenance
- Weather
*3. Hanging Simulator*
Adjust your harness and learn proper body position for launching, landing, and in-flight maneuvers while suspended above ground.
*4. Bunny Flight/Winch Training*
Experience your first solo flights (80-100 feet) using a winch system, allowing you to familiarize yourself with launching and landing before wearing motorized equipment.
*5. Initial Paramotor Training*
Under close supervision, you'll learn to navigate all phases of flight, from pre-flight to landing. We'll repeat flights until you can launch, land, and turn safely and consistently.
*6. Advanced Flight Training*
Beyond initial training, there's more to explore in paramotor flight. My goal is to foster a community of pilots who can mentor each other. To achieve this, I invite pilots to join me at the flight park for ongoing training and skill-building under light supervision.
How it works
# Scheduling
To schedule a training session, please contact me. Training is available year-round.
# Equipment
For the initial sessions, instruction will be provided on my equipment, covering:
- Kiting and launch training with a paraglider
- Gear familiarization
- Ground school
- Short winch-powered flights
Once you're ready to purchase your own gear, I'll assist you in finding perfectly fitted new or used equipment, depending on your budget. Training will then continue on your own gear.
# Cost
$150 per 3-hour training session (for students purchasing gear through Dakota Paramotor)
# Training Duration
The time required to learn paramotor aviation varies depending on:
- Previous experience
- Personal aptitude
- Effort put into kiting practice
Typically, students require:
- Kiting/ground training: 1-2 sessions
- First flights on winch: 1-2 sessions
- Paramotor flights: 2-4 sessions
